In 2020, 11% of the national population moved homes. Between 2016 and 2017, the group that most the moved was young adults aged between 18 - 24 and 25 - 34 years old.
WThe reasons why so many Americans decide to move are diverse and varied. In 2020, the three most popular reasons for moving were: housing (40.1%), family (25.5%), and employment (19.8%)
The Neighbor 2020 – 2021 American Migration Report surveyed 1,000 Americans and found that 56% planned to move sometime in 2021. This trend is expected to continue in future years.
